What is Mindfulness Meditation ? A complete Guide

Mindfulness is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s not something you have to conjure up, you just have to learn how to access it.

At Elate Wellbeing, we do this via Meditation and also various kinds of activities. In fact, as a Nutritionist, I also try to incorporate mindfulness in terms of eating the right quality and quantity of food. As we strive towards delivering a healthier and happier you, we answer a lot of questions on a daily basis on how mindfulness can be incorporated in our lives on a daily basis.

What is Mindfulness ?

Mindfulness, a very well-known term in today’s world. In simple terms, it means living in the moment. Better explained, when you go through the day, doing each task, not just for the sake of doing it, but being present in the moment and being completely aware of oneself and one’s surroundings.

Difference between mindfulness and mindful meditation

Mindfulness doesn’t eliminate stress or other difficulties; instead, by becoming aware of unpleasant thoughts and emotions that arise because of challenging situations, we have more choice in how to handle them in the moment — and a better chance of reacting calmly and empathetically when faced with stress or challenges. Of course, practicing mindfulness does not mean we never get angry — rather it allows us to be more thoughtful in how we want to respond, whether that's calmly and empathetically or perhaps, occasionally with measured anger.

Meditation is the training ground for learning mindfulness. At first, we meditate to become familiar with the here and now for a limited period of time. Over time, however, regularly practicing mindfulness helps us develop the ability to be present throughout the day, every day.

What is Mindful Meditation?

Mindfulness meditation is a mental training practice that teaches you to slow down racing thoughts, let go of negativity, and calm both your mind and body. Mindfulness meditation gives us a time in our lives when we can suspend judgment and unleash our natural curiosity about the workings of the mind, approaching our experience with warmth and kindness—to ourselves and others

What are the benefits of mindfulness meditation?

Regular practice of mindfulness meditation has benefits for your physical as well as your mental health,

  • Anxiety Management

  • Stress Management

  • Overcomes depression

  • Treats sleep disorders and eating disorders.

Are you missing out on mindfulness?

As the Wellness Expert at Elate, I have seen clients who focus on overall wellbeing and not just weight or size, are happier than the ones who are singularly obsessed with weight. Alternatively, it can be said that people who put in their efforts in gaining good health reflect that same kind of positivity in other important aspects of life too, e.g., family, social relations, work, etc.

Through meditation, you are able to focus better on little things that matter to you, think clearly, detaching yourself from the things that do not matter.
