This is a great asana with some amazing benefits for the entire body. It helps you strengthen the entire upper body including shoulders, arms. This also strengthens leg muscles. It is a moderately intense pose but it is important that this pose is done in guidance from experts. You can stay in this asana for one to three minutes with normal breathing. This is the most basic pose. Advance poses can be done by following ujjayi pranayama and kapalbhati pranayama. When breathing variation is adopted, the downward dog has tremendous benefits.
